Changing the Future for Roatán’s Animals

One Community at a Time

Showing Up Where It Matters Most

ROAR is a volunteer-led, foster-based network working across Roatán to help animals in need.

Every day, we meet animals who are injured, neglected, or simply surviving on their own. We step in where we can—providing medical care, supporting sterilization, and giving animals a chance to recover.

We don’t have a shelter, and we can’t take on every case. But with the help of fosters, volunteers, and community support, we’re able to keep showing up—one animal at a time.

IMPORTANT INFO.

How the Work Comes Together

The Process.

Each situation starts with someone noticing an animal in need. From there, we assess the case based on condition, urgency, and what support is available at that time. When the right pieces come together, care is coordinated with local veterinarians, fosters, and volunteers to provide treatment, stabilization, and ongoing support.

Real Work. Real Impact.

Every number represents an animal that received care, stabilization, or a second chance. Behind each case is a network of people—veterinarians, fosters, volunteers, and community members—working together to make that outcome possible. ROAR’s impact isn’t just in the numbers. It’s in the animals that recover, the situations that are stabilized, and the ongoing work happening every day across the island. Since 2019, that work has included more than 1,600 sterilizations, over 2,000 medical treatments, more than 43,000 pounds of support provided, and over 100 animals placed into homes.

He was found in Coxen Hole—

He was found in Coxen Hole—thin, sick, and struggling to survive. His condition gave him the name Chupa.

With support from ROAR, a local woman stepped in and took him into her home, giving him the care and stability he needed to recover.

Today, Chupa is healthy, safe, and part of a home—still with a small twitch from surviving distemper, but living a completely different life.

Building What Comes Next

While ROAR continues its daily work in the community, we are also building a long-term solution to reduce overpopulation at its source.
