Ehrilichia- a preventable blood disease transmitted by ticks

“The sub-clinical phase is often considered the worst because there are no clinical signs, therefore, goes undetected” The bacteria of only 1 tick can cause this disease. Ehrlichia are a very common disease here on Roatan. Once the disease progresses symptoms like weight loss, white gums, loss of appetite, lethargy and seizures can occur. Your pets blood becomes thin and blood can be seen in urine, stool as well as nose bleeds. Seek immediate medical attention for your licensed veterinarian!
